Wildcats Fall 3-2 in Game 2 in Eastman

In another hotly contested affair, the Westman Wildcats fell 3-2 to the Eastman Selects on Friday night in Ste. Anne.  The winning goal came with 7:14 remaining in the 3rd period.  Despite a furious push to score the equalizer in the fall couple minutes with the net empty, the Wildcats were unable to tie the game and send it to overtime. The Wildcats had numerous quality chances of their own, with multiple odd man rushes in the opening period and a crossbar. Jillian Szabo suffered the loss in net.  Shaylee Scraba and Gilly Gervin had the Wildcats goals.  Game 3 will go in Hartney on Sunday at 3:30 PM.

Wildcats Take Game 1 in Overtime

After a very exiting back and forth 60 minutes that saw tremendous goaltending on both ends of the arena, the Westman Wildcats needed only 46 seconds of overtime to score the lone goal of the night to earn the game 1 victory on home ice.  Jensen Shearer was the hero in overtime as her shot from the high slot made its way through a incredible traffic and found its way across the goal line.  Jillian Szabo picked up the shutout win in net, stopping 24 shots. Game 2 goals Friday night in Ste. Anne at 7:30 PM.

Wildcats fall 2-0 on Road in Eastman

The Westman Wildcats fell 2-0 to the Eastman Selects on Sunday afternoon in Ste. Anne.

The Wildcats gave up an even strength goal in the 2nd period and a Powerplay goal midway through the 3rd period. Natalie Williamson suffered the loss in net. The Wildcats will not have to wait long for the rematch as they host Eastman in game 1 of the league 1st round series on Wednesday night in Hartney. Game time is 7:00 PM.

The Westman Wildcats fell 4-1 in Morden on Saturday evening. Emma Ramsey scored the lone goal for the Wildcats. Jillian Szabo suffered the loss in net.  The Wildcats finish off the regular season tomorrow against Eastman in Ste. Anne.

Wildcats Fall 4-1 to Yellowhead on Road in Shoal Lake

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 4-1 on Thursday night in Shoal Lake.  Rylee Martin scored the lone goal for the Wildcats and Natalie Williamson suffered the loss in net.  The team finishes off the regular season on Saturday in Morden against Pembina Valley and on Sunday in Ste. Anne vs Eastman.

Wildcats Defeat St. Mary's

In a hard fought, tight checking game the Westman Wildcats defeated the St. Mary's Flames 4-3 in the Friday night feature game.  The win set up a 3 way tie for first place in the pool as the Wildcats, Flames and Rocky Mountain all finished the round robin at 2 wins and 1 loss.  Unfortunately, the Wildcats ended up in 3rd place after the Goals For/Against Average was determined with St. Mary's in 1st at 0.666, Rocky Mountain at 0.6 and Westman at 0.588.  Westman will now play at 1:30 PM with the opponent yet to be determined.

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 1-0 this AM in a very tight game.  Rocky Mountain scored the winning goal on a shorthanded 2 on 1 opportunity late in the 2nd period.  Natalie Williamson suffered the loss in net.  The Wildcats ended up going up 0 for 10 on the powerplay. The Wildcats face the St. Mary's Flames at 7:00 PM tonight in a must win situation.

Wildcats Defeat Vancouver Island 6-3 in Game #1 of St. Mary's Tournament

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Vancouver Island Seals 6-3 on Thursday night in Winnipeg.  Gilly Gervin scored 2 goals for the Wildcats.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net.  The Wildcats will play the Rocky Mountain Raiders tomorrow morning and the St. Mary's Flames tomorrow night.
