Wildcats Defeat Vancouver Island 6-3 in Game #1 of St. Mary's Tournament

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Vancouver Island Seals 6-3 on Thursday night in Winnipeg.  Gilly Gervin scored 2 goals for the Wildcats.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net.  The Wildcats will play the Rocky Mountain Raiders tomorrow morning and the St. Mary's Flames tomorrow night.

Wildcats Defeat Central Plains 1-0

The Westman Wildcats scraped out a 1-0 victory over the Central Plains Capitals on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  The Wildcats couldn't stay out of the penalty box and every time they started to get some momentum they would find themselves in the penalty box. The  lone goal came off the stick of Charly Lindberg in the opening period. Jillian Szabo picked up the shutout victory in net, stopping all 24 shots she faced.

Wildcats Defeat Interlake 2-0...Again

The Westman Wildcats capped off a very busy week with their 4th consecutive victory, defeating the Interlake Lightning 2-0 at home this afternoon in Hartney. Krissy Rink and Emma Ramsey scored for the Wildcats. Natalie Williamson picked up her 4th straight victory within a week and 3rd shutout over those 4 games.

Wildcats Defeat Avros in Shootout

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Winnipeg Avros 3-2 in a hard fought shootout victory on a blustery Saturday afternoon day in Winnipeg. The Wildcats had to fight back from two one goal deficits to force the game into overtime. The game was as blustery as the weather as both teams fought tooth and nail for open ice and scoring opportunities. Shaylee Scraba and Krissy Rink scored the Wildcats goals in regulation.  Natalie Williamson picked up the win in net, stopping 21 of 23 shots in regulation and 2 of 3 shootout shots.  Scraba and Charly Lindberg scored the Wildcats shootout goals. The team is on home ice on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 PM to face the Interlake Lightning.

Wildcats Defeat Interlake 2-0

On a stormy January night, the Westman Wildcats traveled to Warren to face off against the Interlake Lightning 2-0.  Shaylee Scraba scored both goals to lead the Wildcats to victory. Natalie Williamson picked up the shutout in net. The Wildcats will face off tomorrow afternoon against the Winnipeg Avros at the Seven Oaks Arena at 5:15 PM before heading home to host the Lightning at 2:00 on Sunday in Hartney.

Wildcats Defeat Yellowhead 3-0

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Yellowhead Chiefs 3-0 on Wednesday night in Hartney.  After a scoreless opening period the Wildcats got on the board early in the 2nd period on a powerplay goal from Jori Hansen-Young.  They would then have to kill off a full  two minute 5 on 3 powerplay midway through the period. The Wildcats would add to the lead late in the 2nd period off a finesse one-timer out of the air from Belle Hobbs.  They would seal the deal with their 2nd powerplay goal of the night 6 minutes into the 3rd period off a tip in from Charly Lindberg.  Natalie Williamson was brilliant in net stopping all 36 shots she faced.  The Wildcats head on the road to this Friday and Saturday to face Interlake and the Winnipeg Avros.  They will be home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM to host Interlake.

Wildcats Fall 5-2 to Winnipeg Ice

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 5-2 to the Winnipeg Ice on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  The Wildcats spotted the Ice a field goal, going down 3-0 before they were able to fight back to make it 3-1 before the end of the period.  The Wildcats fought hard to get back into the game at the start of the 2nd period but it was the Ice who pushed the lead to 4-1.  The Wildcats would make it 4-2 before the end of the period.  The Wildcats had numerous chances in the 3rd period to get back into the game but could not bulge the twine.  The Ice eventually scored an empty net goal to make it 5-2.  Jillian Szabo suffered the loss in net.  The Wildcats next action will be at home on Wednesday at 7:30 PM to host the Yellowhead Chiefs.

Wildcats vs Pembina Valley - League #3

The Wildcats finally got back to game action on Saturday night in Hartney after a long Christmas break, defeating the Pembina Valley Hawks 4-3 in overtime in a penalty filled affair.  The girls had not played since Dec. 22nd and it showed in the opening minutes of the game as they were hemmed in for quite some time.  The Wildcats did not get their first shot of 2020 on net until 8 minutes into the game, but they made what shots they did get count with 2 goal later in the opening period by Jori Hansen-Young.  Pembina Valley would work to tie it up with a goal late in the 1st period and and 2nd goal midway through the 2nd period.  Krissy Rink would score on a breakaway on the opening shift of the 3rd period but PV would tie it with 1 minute to play with their net empty.  Gilly Gervin scored on a 5 on 3 powerplay goal early into overtime to seal the victory.  Natalie Williamson picked up the win in net.  The Wildcats host the Winnipeg Ice at 2:00 PM on Sunday.
