Kirkup MVP at Mac's Tournament
Jan 2, 2013, 7:31 pm

The Westman Wildcats’ undefeated run at the Mac's AAA Midget Hockey Tournament was stopped in Monday's semifinals in Calgary. However, they didn't go home empty-handed as Virden's Karissa Kirkup was named the tournament MVP, a first-team all-star and also earned the plus/minus award after scoring five goals and notching seven points in five games. The Wildcats dropped a 1-0 decision to the eventual champion Edmonton Thunder, with Elizabeth Salyn's first period goal standing up as the game winner. The Wildcats, members of the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, had finished first in their pool with three wins and a tie to advance to the semifinals.
