Wildcats vs Rocky Mountain

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 3-2 by the Rocky Mountain Raiders in a very fast and entertaining game in Milestone on Thursday morning. Gilly Gervin and Paige Hubbard scored for the Wildcats. Natalie Williamson suffered the loss in net.

Wildcats Defeat Eastman 2-1 on Home Ice on Sunday

Two goals in the opening frame from Belle Hobbs were enough for the Westman Wildcats to defeat the Eastman Selects 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  Jillian Szabo allowed a lone powerplay marker to get behind her in the final frame but that was it as the Wildcats held on to a 2-1 victory.

The Wildcats will head to the Mandi Schwarz Tournament this weekend, hosted by the Notre Dame Hounds.  The Wildcats will begin on Thursday with games against the Edmonton Pandas and the Rocky Mountain Raiders (Okotoks).  Their last roundrobin game will be on Friday against the Notre Dame Hounds.


Wildcats Squeak out 1-0 Overtime Win in Morden vs Pembina Valley

On a night where they weren't at their best, the Westman Wildcats managed to squeak out a 1-0 overtime victory over the Pembina Valley Hawks on last evening in Morden. Shaylee Scraba managed to steal the puck from a Pembina Valley defender and after getting a shot off from in tight she collected her own rebound and found Aly O'Hara all alone in the slot.  O'Hara made no mistake and buried the chance into the back of the net.  Natalie Williamson was solid in the Wildcats net and limited the Hawks to very few 2nd chance opportunities.

Wildcats Fall to Yellowhead at Home

The Westman Wildcats fell 3-0 to the Yellowhead Chiefs on home ice Wednesday night.  The Wildcats were unable to finish on a number of high quality scoring chances which led to their downfall.  Jillian Szabo suffered the loss in net.  The Wildcats travel to Morden to face the Pembina Valley Hawks on Saturday night and return home on Sunday to face the Eastman Selects at 2:00 PM.

The Wildcats defeated the Pembina Valley Hawks 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  Shaylee Scraba led the way with two goals while Paige Hubbard scored what turned out to be the game winner.  Natalie Williamson was solid in the Wildcats net, picking up the win by stopping 30 of 31 shots on net.

Wildcats Lose on the Road to the Avros

The Westman Wildcats traveled to Winnipeg on Saturday to face the Winnipeg Avros.  The Avros scored a goal in the 1st period and two in the 3rd period (including an empty netter) to shut out the Wildcats 3-0.

Ali O'Hara Commits to Minot State University

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Ali O’Hara, a 4th year Wildcat from Chater, MB, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the Minot State University Beavers in the fall of 2019. 

In 25 league games last year Ali had 13 goals, 8 assists for 21 points. Overall, in 53 games last season, Ali scored 21 goals and added 17 assists for 38 points. This season, in 11 league games Ali has 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points. In 20 games overall this season she has recorded 8 goals and 11 assists for 19 points.  Overall, during her Wildcats career, Ali has played in 195 games and recorded 54 goals and 60 assists for 114 points.

From Coach Miner of the MSU Beavers, “We are very excited to have Ali join our program as we make the transition up to Division 1.  Ali will bring a work ethic that is dominant at both ends of the ice – whether it’s a battle in the corner or contributing to a scoring opportunity.  She is a well-rounded two-way player who will be a key impact for our program next fall.

Minot State University (MSU or MiSU) is a four-year institution of higher learning in Minot, North Dakota. Founded in 1913 as a normal school, Minot State University is the third-largest university in North Dakota, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs.  Three colleges comprise the university’s academic offerings: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Health Sciences. Nine master's degrees and one education specialist degree are offered in such areas as communication disorders, management, and mathematics. 

 


Wildcats vs Winnipeg Ice

The Westman Wildcats came from behind to defeat the Winnipeg Ice 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon in Hartney. Paige Hubbard scored both goals for the Wildcats and Jillian Szabo stopped 26 of 27 shots to pick up the win in net.
