Wildcats vs Central Plains

Leandra Timmerman scored the only goal of the game on the powerplay with 5:23 remaining in the 1st period to lead the Central Plains Capitals to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Westman Wildcats on Saturday night in Hartney.

Kathleen Kosiar stopped all 20 shots she faced enroute to the victory. Jenna Marshall stopped 15 of the 16 shots she faced on the night.

The Wildcats face St. Mary's Flames in an exhibition tilt today at 2 PM in Hartney.


Wildcats vs Pembina Valley

Brooklyn Major scored the overtime winner for Pembina Valley with 1:38 remaining in OT to defeat the Westman Wildcats last night in Hartney.  

Jaycee Magwood (assists to Jaedon Cooke and Shae Vallotton) had tied the game midway through the 3rd period at 1 goal apiece but although the Wildcats pressed hard they could not score the go-ahead goal.  

Kate Friesen scored the other PV goal in the 1st period.

Michelle Kerdes suffered the loss in net, stopping 26 of 28 shots.

The Wildcats host the Central Plains Capitals tonight, Saturday Nov. 8 in Hartney at 7:30 PM.

MFMHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Week 5 ending November 2, 2014

Forward Jaycee Magwood of the Westman Wildcats is the Selkirk Source for Sports-Reebok MFMHL Player of the Week.  Magwood a Grade 12 student from Killarney, MB. was an impact player for the Wildcats as she helped them move into first place in the MFMHL standings. Magwood had 2 goals and 3 assists as the Wildcats swept the Norman Wild on the road in a three game series moving Westman's record to 8-1 in MFMHL play. Magwood a 5'8" power forward who was the 2013-14 MFMHL MVP has picked up right where she left off last season and current sits second in league scoring with 13 points. Magwood who has committed to play hockey for the University of Regina Cougars next season is still in the hunt for a spot on Team Manitoba to participate in 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Wildcats vs Norman - Nov. 2

Ashton Bell and Jaycee Magwood each had two goals and an assist to lead the Westman Wildcats to a 7-0 victory over the Norman Wild on Sunday morning in The Pas. 
 
Courtney Ganske, KJ Wallace, and Jossa Danis each had had a goal. Missy Hunt and Jenna Patterson each had two assists, with Tori Williams picking up a single assist.  
 
Period scores were 3-0, 5-0, 7-0. Shots on goal were 60-24 in favour of Westman. Michelle Kerdes picked up the shutout victory in net.

Wildcats vs Norman - Nov 1

Jossa Danis had 2 goals and an assist to lead the Westman Wildcats to a 4-0 shutout of the Norman Wild.  Ashton Bell had a goal and an assist and Kenzie Robinson rounded out the scoring.  Jaycee Magwood  and Jenna Patterson each picked up an assist.  

Period scores were 2-0 after the 1st.  3-0 after the 2nd.  Westman had 38 shots on net.

Michelle Kerdes picked up the shutout win in net, stopping all 26 shots she faced.  


Wildcats vs Norman - Oct 31

Jaycee Magwood had a goal and an assist to lead the Westman Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over the Norman Wild last night in The Pas.

Jaedon Cooke got the Wildcats on the board early in the 1st on a breakaway with assists going to Magwood and Crowe.  Shots on goal in the period were 16-13 in favour of Westman.  

In the 2nd period KJ Wallace scored on a tight angle shot to extend the lead to 2-0. Shots on goal in the 2nd period were 24-7 in favour of Westman. 

The Wildcats continued their hard push in the 3rd and Magwood, after hitting the crossbar, was finally rewarded with a tip-in goal off a point shot from Tori Williams to extend the lead to 3-0. The Wild would finally put one behind Marshall with 2 minutes remaining off a defensive zone Faceoff battle.  Shots on goal in the 3rd were 16-5 in favour of Westman.

Final shots on net were 56-25 in favour of Westman.  Jenna Marshall earned the victory in net.

The two teams play again tonight at 7:30 PM and Sunday morning at 10:30 AM. 

 

 


Wildcats vs Eastman

Jenna Marshall stopped all 18 shots she faced on Sunday, including her 2nd penalty shot of the week, to record back-to-back shutouts at home and lead the Wildcats to a 6-0 victory over the Eastman Selects.

Six different shooters recorded goals as KJ Wallace, Ashton Bell, Kenzie Robinson, Jaedon Cooke, Missy Hunt, and Jossa Danis each scored.  Jaycee Magwood had 3 assists, with Courtney Ganske, Jaedon Cooke, Kenzie Robinson, Katie Crowe, Ashton Bell and Brianna Williams each picking up singles.

Period scores were 1-0, 3-0, 6-0.

Westman had 39 shots on net.

The Wildcats travel to The Pas this weekend for a 3 game series versus the Norman Wild.


Wildcats vs Central Plains

The Wildcats hosted Central Plains on Friday night in Hartney.

Ashton Bell got the Wildcats on the board early with an unassisted goal 55 seconds into the game.

Jossa Danis made it a 2-0 lead midway through the period with a nice tip-in on the power play.  Courtney Ganske and Ashton Bell picked up the assists on the play.  Shots on goal in the period were 11-2 in favour of Westman.

In the 2nd period, the Wildcats got into some penalty trouble having to kill off 3 minors but that did not stop the scoring as Kenzie Robinson scored a beautiful unassisted goal to stretch the lead to 3-0.  Shots on goal in the period were 7-3 in favour of Central Plains.

The 3rd period was more of the same for Westman who had to kill off 4 more minors en route to a 3-0 shutout victory.  Shots on goal in the 3rd period were 9-2 in favour of Central Plains.

Final shots on net were 18-16 in favour of Central Plains.

Jenna Marshall was solid in the Wildcats net, controlling rebounds and settling down the play on the numerous penalties the Wildcats were forced to kill.

The Wildcats next game is this Sunday, Oct. 26th, at 2:00 PM in Hartney vs. Eastman.
