In the second period the Chiefs dictated the pace of the game, out hustling and out muscling the Wildcats who seemed a step behind and were unable to maintain puck possession. Shots on goal in the period were 8-6 in favour of the Wildcats.

In the 3rd period, the Chiefs managed to get on the scoreboard off a tip in goal 3 minutes into the period. The Wildcats struggled to generate any solid scoring chances despite outshooting the Chiefs 13-7 in the period. Yellowhead scored a late marker to make it 2-0.

Wildcats vs Central Plains Capitals
Nov 3, 2013, 9:33 pm

The Wildcats traveled to Portage today to face the Central Plains Capitals and attempt to snap a 3 game winless streak.

The first half of the 1st period saw the Wildcats saw the Wildcats carry the play, out hustling the the Caps to all pucks. Central Plains righted the ship near the end of the period and both teams headed to the locker room tied 0-0.

In the 2nd period, Westman got on the scoreboard at the 16:39 mark on a goal by Jaycee Magwood, assisted by Kenzie Robinson. Both teams spent some time in the box and the flow of the game seemed to disappear.

The Wildcats had their own man advantage opportunity at the end of the game and had a couple solid scoring chances but were unable to score.

The Wildcats played with plenty of energy and urgency throughout the game. Unfortunately, energy and urgency don't necessarily translate into goals on the game sheet. Final score, 1-1. Sky Brown was in net for the Wildcats.

Wildcats vs Winnipeg Avros
Oct 20, 2013, 8:29 am

The Wildcats travelled to Winnipeg to visit the Winnipeg Avros yesterday. The ladies were looking to rebound from a loss they had suffered to Pembina Valley the evening before.

The girls came out strong from the opening faceoff, pushing the pace of the game and playing the way Wildcats are supposed to play. However, it was the Avros who got on the board first with a powerplay goal midway through the period. The Wildcats responded with six minutes remaining in the period on a breakaway goal from Jaedon Cooke, set up on a gutsy play by Kenzie Robinson. The period ended 1-1.

In the second period the Avros again jumped ahead on another powerplay goal. That seemed to spark the Wildcats who came out with even more resolve and score two unanswered goals before the end of the period to take a 3-2 lead. The tying goal came off a tip in from Jaycee Magwood with assists going to Gina Williams and Megan Robertson. The winning goal came off the stick of Ashton Bell, assisted by Jaycee Magwood and Megan Robertson.

In the 3rd period the Wildcats locked things down and played large stretches at a time in the Avros end of the arena. The final score, 3-2 for the Wildcats.

Shots on goals were 30-27 in favour of the Avros.

The Wildcats face the Winnipeg Ice at 10:20 this morning in Winnipeg.
