The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Jenna Patterson, a 4th year Wildcat from Boissevain, MB, who has committed to attend school at Potsdam University, and play hockey with, the Potsdam Bears in the fall of 2015. The Bears are a Division III team that competes in the ECAC Women’s West Conference. In 47 games this season, Jenna, who is known for her great skating ability and as a tenacious checker, has 3 goals and 7 assists for 10 points. Last year, over 74 games, Jenna recorded 6 goals and 9 assists. In 23 league games this year she had 2 goals, 4 assists for 6 points. Courtney Ganske led the way with 2 powerplay goals, with singles going to Jaycee Magwood, Tori Williams, Andrea Sanderson, Katie Crowe, Jenna Patterson, Kenzie Robinson, KJ Wallace and Mackenzie Meek. Mackenzie Roach had 3 assists, Jaycee Magwood, Amie Hunt, and Kenzie Robinson each had 2 assists, with Jaedon Cooke, Ashton Bell, Jossa Danis, Brianna Willams, and Shae Vallotton each picking up singles. Shots on net were 40-21 for Westman. Michelle Kerdes picked up the win in net. The two teams face off again on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 11 AM in Hartney. Jan 8, 2015, 7:50 am The Westman Wildcats defeated the Yellowhead Chiefs 2-1 on Wednesday night in Hartney. Jaycee Magwood opened the scoring late in the 1st period on the powerplay, tipping in a Courtney Ganske shot from the point. Assists went to Ganske and Bell. Shots on goal in the period were 13-3 in favour of Westman. Yellowhead received two penalties in the period while Westman received 1. In the 2nd period, Amie Hunt scored a shorthanded goal midway through the period to extend the lead to 2-0. Shae Vallotton picked up the lone assist on the play. Yellowhead pushed hard for the remained of the period, however, and ended up outshooting the Wildcats 16-8 in the period. Westman received 3 penalties in the period and Yellowhead received 2. The 3rd period was a very even affair with both teams trading chances. Sam Geekie capitalized on one of the Yellowhead chances to make the score 2-1 but that is all they would manage. Shots on goal in the period were 8-8. Yellowhead received the lone penalty late in the period. Final shots on net were 29-27 in favour of Westman. Jenna Marshall was solid in net and picked up the win for Westman. The Wildcats host the Norman Wild this weekend in Hartney. Saturday's game is at 7:30 PM and Sunday's game is at 11:00 AM. Jan 4, 2015, 10:04 am Congratulations to Jaycee Magwood of the Westman Wildcats who made her mark at the Mac's Midget Tournament in Calgary. Magwood was the Tournament Scoring Leader with 6 goals and 5 assists in the four round robin games. As well, Magwood earned MVP honours and was chosen as a First-Team All-Star for the Wildcats. Overall, the 5th year Killarney product notched seven goals and 12 points in five games for Westman, who lost in the tournament semifinals to Calgary. Congratulations to Jenna Patterson of the Westman Wildcats who was selected to receive a $1500 Academic Scholarship during the tournament. Jenna is a 4th year Wildcat who hails from Boissevain, Manitoba. Congratulations, girls. |
