Swift Current got on the board at the 12:30 mark of the opening period. Cammy Clyne tied the game at 1-1 with 3:26 remaining in the opening frame. Shae Vallotton picked up the lone assist on the goal.
The game remained scoreless until the Sanderson goal late in the 3rd period. Swift Current outshot Westman 21-17. Jenna Marshall and Kaitie Slator shared the goaltending duties. Each team had 3 minor penalties. Sep 10, 2016, 4:51 pm The Westman Wildcats battled Team Sask U16 to a 3-3 tie this afternoon in Swift Current. Josee Casavant got the Cats on the board early in the first period on the powerplay with Aly O'Hara and Shae Vallotton picking up the assists. Team Sask would respond a minute later to tie the game. They would go ahead 2-1 on a powerplay goal with just under two minutes remaining in the period. Ashton Bell would tie it up with an unassisted wraparound goal under a minute later after a strong forecheck. Team Sask were assessed 3 minor penalties in the period and Westman had 2. The Wildcats would take the lead with under 3 minutes to play in the 2nd period as Ashton Bell jammed home a rebound on a goal mouth scramble. Aly O'Hara picked up the lone assist on the goal. Team Sask were assessed 3 minor penalties in the period and the Wildcats were assessed 1.
The Wildcats got into some penalty trouble in the 3rd as they were assessed 4 minors. Fortunately they were able to kill them all off but they lost a bit of momentum and Team Sask was able to score the tying goal on a broken play with just under 4 minutes to play.
Kaitie Slator was solid in the Westman net in picking up the tie Sep 9, 2016, 7:45 pm The Westman Wildcats kicked off the 2016-17 season in Swift Current against the Lloydminster Steelers this afternoon. Ashton Bell got the Wildcats on the scoreboard just over 5 minutes into the game with a hard snapshot after she drove off the half wall. Shae Vallotton and Josee Casavant picked up the assists. The game remained tied until the 13:48 minute mark of the 3rd period when Lloydminster scored their lone goal on the powerplay. That is how the game ended, despite a furious push from the Wildcats in the final 4 minutes. Each team received 4 minor penalties. Shots on net were 23-22 in favour of Westman. Jenna Marshall was solid in the Wildcats net.

The POE Top 40 Camp is the second major phase of the Program of Excellence which is the selection process for the U 18 (Female) Team Manitoba rosters.
