Wildcats Defeat Ancaster 3-2 in Shootout

Jori Hansen-Young was the shootout hero, scoring 2 goals off clean shots high blocker side to lead the Wildcats to a 3-2 shootout victory over Ancaster on Friday morning.  The game was a very fast and physical affair. Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net.

Wildcats Fall 4-2 to Winnipeg Ice

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 4-2 by the Winnipeg Ice in the opening game of the Sport School Challenge tournament in Winnipeg today.

1st Period

Wildcats Defeat Interlake 3-1

After falling behind 1-0 on a powerplay goal early in the 2nd period the Westman Wildcats scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Interlake Lightning 3-1 this afternoon in Warren.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net, stopping 17 of 18 shots on net.

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Yellowhead Chiefs 2-1 on Friday night in Shoal Lake.  Shaylee Scraba and Charly Lindberg each scored powerplay goals to lead the Wildcats to victory.  Jillian Szabo was solid in net, turning aside 25 of 26 shots.

Wildcats Defeat Interlake

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Interlake Lightning 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in Warren.  Paige Hubbard led the way with two goals while Aly O'Hara and Charly Lindberg each had a goal and an assist.  Gilly Gervin and Brynn each had two assists.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net.

1st Period

7:31 - Wildcats goal - Hubbard from Gervin and Tosh

0:26 - Lightning goal on the powerplay (5 on 3)

Wildcats Defeated 5-1 in Ste. Anne on Saturday Night

The Westman Wildcats traveled to Ste. Anne on a cold Saturday night to face off against the Eastman Selects.  The 1st period was a back and forth affair with both teams generating quality scorying chances but the period ended 0-0.  

The Selects would get on the board early in the 2nd period on the powerplay.  It would be the first of 3 consecutive powerplay goals that the Wildcats would give up in the period to head into the 2nd period break down 3-0.

This Wildcats would score an early powerplay goal in the 3rd period as Aly O'Hara drove the net hard and scored off her own rebound to make it 3-1.  However, Eastman would respond with two more powerplay goals in the period to seasl the deal.  Natalie Williamson suffered the loss in net.

The Wildcats finish off the weekend trip with a 3:00 PM game in Warren against the Interlake Lightning.


Wildcats vs Eastman

Paige Hubbard scored the OT winner with 2:40 remaining to lead the Westman Wildcats to a 2-1 victory over Eastman Selects on Saturday night in Ste. Anne. Aly O'Hara scored the other Wildcats goal on a breakaway.  The team had to fight through some adversity to come from behind as they were shorthanded 5 on 3 for a full 2 minutes and killed off a 5 minute major as well.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net.

Wildcats vs Central Plains

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Central Plains Capitals 1-0 in Portage of Friday night. The Wildcats played with good energy throughout the game and had numerous high quality scoring chances. Unfortunately, their aim was just a little off and they had to hold on for the tight win. Caroline Caswell scored the lone Wildcats goal off a goalmouth scramble. Natalie Williamson picked up the shutout victory in net.
