Wildcats Win in OT vs Eastman Oct 8, 2017, 5:38 pmThe Westman Wildcats hosted the Eastman Selects in the 2nd game of their weekend series this afternoon in Hartney. The Wildcats outshot Eastman 6-4.
In the 2nd period, the Wildcats would again get into penalty trouble, allowing the Selects to take over the game territorially. Paige Hubbard would tie it up at the 2:32 mark with a great individual effort on a wraparound to make it 3-3. Each team picked up a minor penalty in the 3rd period and the Wildcats outshot Eastman 12-4.
Cue overtime. The Wildcats would have to kill off the remainder of the penalty but actually controlled the play on the 4 on 3 advantage. At the end of the kill, Tori Williams would pick up the puck in the neutral zone and turn up ice, split the Eastman defense and bury a shot to the top blocker side to lead the Wildcats to the comeback victory.
The Wildcats head on the road next weekend with games against Pembina Valley and Interlake.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
