Wildcats Defeat Central Plains 2-0 and Win Round 1 Series

Cammy Clyne scored a shorthanded goal and goalie Jenna Marshall saved her best effort for the series clinching game as the Wildcats defeated the Capitals 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.

1st Period

No scoring

Shots - 5-3 in favour of Westman

Penalties - Capitals - 3, Westman - 1

2nd Period

5:39 - Wildcats goal - Clyne from Hubbard and Williams - shorthanded

Shots - 9-7 in favour of Westman 

Penalties - Westman - 1

3rd Period

1:27 - Wildcats goal - Lindberg from Walker

Shots - 8-7 in favour of Westman 

Penalties - 2 each

Final shots on goal were 22-17 in favour of Westman.  Jenna Marshall picked up the shutout win in net.

The Wildcats now await the winner of the Pembina Valley-Interlake series.


Wildcats Defeat Central Plains 7-2 in Game 2

After a slow start to the game that saw the Capitals take a 1-0 lead, the Wildcats found their game and exploded for 5 unanswered goals in just over 10 minutes en route to a 7-2 victory over the Capitals on Saturday afternoon in Portage La Prairie.

1st Period

10:19 - Wildcats goal - O'Hara from Scraba and Lindberg

8:22 - Wildcats goal - Clyne from Green and Marshall

7:48 - Wildcats goal - Scraba from Hansen-Young and Marshall

4:50 - Wildcats goal - Walker from O'Hara and Wickham - 4 on 4

1:53 - Wildcats goal - Williams from Seekings and Hubbard

Shots - 11-9 in favour of Westman

Penalties - Capitals - 2, Westman - 1

2nd Period

2:53 - Wildcats goal - Williams from Wickham

Shots - 11-10 in favour of Capitals 

Penalties - Westman - 3, Capitals - 2

3rd Period

2:27 - Wildcats goal - Wickham from Hubbard and Clyne

1:50 - Capitals goal on the powerplay

Final shots on goal were 30-25 in favour of Central Plains.  Jenna Marshall picked up the win in net.

Wildcats vs Central Plains

It was a wild 1st period in Hartney on Wednesday night as the Wildcats and the Capitals combined for 6 goals with the Wildcats holding a 4-2 lead at the end of the period. There would be no more scoring until an empty netter with 36 seconds to play as the Wildcats won the opening game of the series by a score of 5-2. 

1st Period

Hubbard named MFMHL Player of the Week

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Westman Wildcats' forward Paige Hubbard has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending February 11.

Hubbard, a grade 11 student from Brandon playing in her 3rd year with the Wildcats, had 5 points during the week. Hubbard scored 3 goals and added an assist in the Wildcats 7-1 victory over the Interlake Lightning on Saturday. Hubbard then scored the opening goal on Sunday afternoon during the Wildcats' OT win against the Lightning. Hubbard has committed to play hockey with the Regina Cougars in the 2019-20 season.

Aly O'Hara scored the tying goal with 10:28 remaining in the game and the winner just over a minute into overtime to lead the Wildcats to a 3-2 victory over Interlake on Sunday afternoon in Hartney. Paige Hubbard scored the other goal for the Wildcats.

Paige Hubbard had a hat trick to lead the Wildcats to a convincing 7-1 victory over Interlake on Saturday night in Hartney.

Aly O'Hara banged in a rebound with 50 seconds remaining in overtime to lead the Wildcats to a 2-1 OT victory over the Eastman Selects. The win secures 3rd place for the Wildcats.
