Wallace Commits to St. Norbert

St. Norbert College Green Knights

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to KJ Wallace, a 3rd year Wildcat from Oak Lake, MB, who has committed to attend school at St. Norbert College and play hockey with the St. Norbert College Green Knights in the fall of 2015. The Green Knights are a Division III team that competes in the Midwest Conference. 

In 41 games this season, KJ, a speedy right winger, has registered 8 goals and 6 assists, a plus/minus of 3 and 34 penalty minutes.  In 74 games last year, she registered 12 goals and 13 assists for a total of 25 points.  

St. Norbert College (SNC) is a private Catholic liberal arts college in De PereWisconsin. Founded in October 1898 by Abbot Bernard Pennings, a Norbertine priest and educator, the school was named after Saint Norbert of Xanten. In 1952, the college became coeducational.[2] The school currently enrolls about 2,160 students.  St. Norbert College has a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1 and an average class size of 21. Regardless of their major, students enrolled at St. Norbert College complete a 12-course (48 credit) General Education Program that emphasizes writing and the liberal arts. The school places an emphasis on its honors program, student-faculty collaborative research (as early as freshman and sophomore years), professional internships and study abroad.


Wildcats vs Avros

The Wildcats were in Winnipeg to face the Avros on the backend of two games on the road hoping to sweep the weekend's games.  The Wildcats got on the board first as KJ Wallace picked off a pass and beat the Avros tender. The period ended 1-0.  Shots on goal were 9-9. 

In the 2nd period, the Avros scored two early goals, the first on the powerplay, to take the lead. They scored their 3rd consecutive goal with 2 minutes to play in the period To stretch the lead to 3-1.  But the Wildcats earned a powerplay with 1:20 to play in the period and Courtney Ganske scored on a blast from the point, with the assists going to Ashton Bell and Jaycee Magwood.  Magwood then tied the game up at 3-3 with a backhand while on her knees to tie the game up with 14 seconds remaining in the period.  Assists went to Danis and Hunt. Shots on goal were 10-8 in favour of Westman.  

Midway through the 3rd period the Wildcats took the lead for good as Jossa Danis buried a rebound, assisted by Magwood and Crowe.  Jenna Patterson scored a highlight reel goal to seal the deal with just under 5 minutes to play.  Shots on goal in the period were 9-6 in favour of Westman.  

Final shots on net were 28-23 in favour of Westman.  Michelle Kerdes picked up the victory in net. 

The Wildcats host their annual Alumni game on Monday night at 7:00 PM in Hartney then host the Pembina Valley Hawks on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM.
