Gillian Gervin Commits to Minot State

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Gilli Gervin, a 4th year Wildcat forward from Boissevain, MB, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the Minot State University Beavers in the fall of 2020. Gilli plans to complete a Physiotherapy degree.

 

In 28 league games last year Gilli had 6 goals, 7 assists for 13 points. Overall, in 58 games last season, Gilli scored 10 goals and added 16 assists for 26 points. This season, in 8 league games, Gilli has 5 goals. 

From Coach Miner of the MSU Beavers, “We are thrilled to add Gillian to our roster this fall.  Her speed and skill will make her an early impact player up front and will add value to our offensive style of play.”

Minot State University (MSU or MiSU) is a four-year institution of higher learning in Minot, North Dakota. Founded in 1913 as a normal school, Minot State University is the third-largest university in North Dakota, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs.  Three colleges comprise the university’s academic offerings: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Health Sciences. Nine master's degrees and one education specialist degree are offered in such areas as communication disorders, management, and mathematics.

Wildcats vs Pembina Valley - League #1

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 1-0 by the Pembina Valley Hawks on Sunday afternoon in Morden.  Pembina Valley outplayed Westman in all facets of the game, allowing the Wildcats to put only 14 shots on net throughout.  Natalie Williamson suffered the loss in net but her play kept the game close.  The Wildcats will look to rebound on Thursday night when they travel to Yellowhead to face the Chiefs.


Wildcat vs Central Plains L3

The Wildcats defeated the Central Plains Capitals 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in Portage La Prairie.  Once again, the Wildcats received goals from 4 different players.  Natalie Williamson earned the victory in net with a shutout, stopping all 20 shots she faced.  The Wildcats will travel to Morden on Sunday afternoon to face the Pembina Valley Hawks at 2:00 PM.

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Interlake Lightning 3-0 this afternoon in Hartney.  Once again the Wildcats got goals from 3 different players.  Natalie Williamson picked up the victory in net, stopping all 9 shots she faced.

Ashley Spence Commits to Minot State

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Ashley Spence, a 3rd year Wildcat defenseman from Bottineau, ND, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the Minot State University Beavers in the fall of 2020.  Ashley intends to enroll in the Pre-Dentistry program.

 

In 28 league games last year Ashley had 5 assists. Overall, in 58 games last season, Ashley scored 1 goal and added 8 assists for 9 points. So far this year she has recorded an assist in 8 league games.

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Winnipeg Ice 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg.  Charly Lindberg scored what proved to be the winner on the powerplay midway through the 3rd period.  Hayley Kolosky, Gilly Gervin and Makenna Beard also scored for the Wildcats.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net, stopping 21 of 23 shots on net.
