Wildcats to Meet Prince Albert Bears in Westerns
The Westman Wildcats will host the Saskatchewan AAA League Champions, The Prince Albert Bears, in the Westerns for a berth in the Esso Cup Nationals.
The best of three series will begin Friday, April 3rd in Hartney, with puck drop at 7:00pm. Game 2 will be Saturday at 7:00 and game three if needed will be Sunday at 1:00, all at the Hartney Arena.
The winner of this series will advance to the first ever Esso Cup in Calgary April 15th-25th.

Westman Wildcats Go .500 in Alberta
The Westman Wildcats female Regional midget hockey team went 2 and 2 on an Alberta trip this weekend.
The Westman squad travelled to Warner Alberta for a four game exhibition series with the CIS, University of Lethbridge and the Warner Warriors.
On Friday night the Westman squad had a very physical battle with the U of L Pronghorns and came away with a 1-0 loss.
Saturday morning had the Cats in their first of three against the Warner Hockey School Warriors and the Wildcats won a 4-1 victory.
Saturday's second match with Warner had the home squad rebounding from their morning defeat to give the Cats a 5-1 loss.
Sunday morning had the rubber match between the two programs and the Wildcats came out strong to secure weekend bragging rights with a 4-1 win.

The Westman Wildcats Win Provincials
The Westman Wildcats Regional Female Midget team claimed the Provincial Female Midget Title Sunday night with a 5-0 win over the Winnipeg Rangers in the Provincial Tournament in Hartney.
The tournament began Friday morning in Hartney with nine team vying for the Provincial crown and the right to represent Manitoba at the Western Regional's in April.
The Wildcats played the Winnipeg Marauders and Eastman Selects in their round robin portion of the tournament. Tying the Marauders 2-2 while beating the Eastman squad 8-0.
The Wildcats than had a rematch with the Marauders in the quarter final game and won by a 4-1 score to take them to the semi-finals Sunday Morning.
The Cats opponent in the semi's were the Pembina Valley Hawks and the Cats played to a 3-1 win to get them into the Gold Medal final Sunday evening.
In the Provincial Finals Sunday night the Cats Opponents were last year's provincial champs the Winnipeg Rangers and the Cats prevailed 5-0 to be this year's Provincial Gold Medalists.
The Wildcats now will face the Saskatchewan AAA Provincial Champions in the Western Regionals for the chance to go to Nationals.
The Wildcats will host this best of three series in Hartney April 3-6th.

Westman South hosts Wildcats Jamboree at Hartney!
On Saturday, February 28th, Hartney and Area Arena was filled by girls ages 5-12 who were registered for the Female Hockey Jamboree organized and run by the Westman South Region with assistance from the Westman Wildcats Female Midget Hockey Team. With over 80 participants registered, the Wildcats had their work cut out for them as they provided dryland training and on-ice training during the day.
The primary focus of the event was to introduce the players to both on-ice and off-ice skating and stickhandling activities that they would be able to work on individually either at home or on the ice to improve skill development.

outh region, as well as members of the Westman Wildcats female hockey team, led Jamboree participants throughout the day. The girls were split up into 3 groups based on age and skill level.
Each participant received two ice sessions, one dryland training session, and a t-shirt.

Westman Wildcat's Amy Lee Commits to the University of Manitoba Bisons Women's Hockey
The Westman Wildcats are proud to announce the Amy Lee has committed to the University of Manitoba to play for the Bisons starting in the fall.
Amy Lee, a senior from Brandon, an assistant captain and forward for the Westman Wildcats will be joining fellow Wildcat Tara Lacquette in suiting up for the second place CIS west Bisons next season.
Lee is the fifth senior from the Westman Wildcats committing to a university hockey program for next season following teammates Brittany Phillips to Colgate University, Lacquette to the Bisons, Laura Williams to NAIT and JD Durnin to Lethbridge University.

Westman Wildcats Jenna-Marie Durnin Commits to the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns
The Westman Wildcats regional female midget team is proud to announce that Jenna-Marie Durnin has committed to play for and attend the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns beginning in the fall of 09.
Durnin, a senior from Wawanesa, is fast skating forward that will bring offense and speed to the Pronghorn line-up next fall.
Durnin will be joining former Wildcat Brandon's Amy Vanbuskirk, a freshman with the Pronghorns this season.
Durnin is the fourth Westman senior to commit this year following Brittany Phillips to Colgate University, Tara Lacquette to the University of Manitoba and Laura Williams to NAIT College.

Wildcats Sweep Thunder Bay Queens
The Westman Wildcat regional Female Midget hockey team swept the Thunder Bay Queens in double header action Friday and Saturday.
The Friday game saw the Cats score one in the opening period by Deloraine's Kiara Dekezel from Kels Scott.
The Westman squad outscored the Queens in the second 3-1 on goals by Mallards Brig Lacquette, Souris's Sheryl Kaskiw and Lauders Britt Phillips with assists Brandi Pollock and Phillips.
The third period had the two teams play scoreless hockey for a Cats 4-1 win. Mallard's Tara Lacquette stopped 21 shots for the win while the Wildcats fired 36 at the Queens net.
Saturday had the Cats again score the lone goal of the first period by Dekezel from Pollock and Kayleigh Chapman.
The second period had three more Westman goals from Souris's Scott, Wawanesa's JD Durnin and Phillips with helpers going to Amy Lee, Laura Williams, Scott and a pair to Kaskiw.
The third period was scoreless for a four nothing shut out for the Wildcats. Souris's Darby Peaslee stopped all 21 shots for the shut out.
