Wildcats vs St. Mary's

The Wildcats were defeated 2-1 by the St. Mary's Academy Flames in a very fast and entertaining game on Saturday in Winnipeg.  Andrea Sanderson got the Wildcats on the board first, midway through the 1st period off a 2 on 1. Ashton Bell and Mackenzie Roach picked up the assists on the play.  Each team had 10 shots on net. There were no penalties in the period.

St. Mary's tied the game up late in the 2nd period.  They outshot Westman 19-4 in the period.  St. Mary's was assessed the only minor penalty of the period and of the game in the 2nd period.

St. Mary's scored the game winner midway through the 3rd frame and the Wildcats were unable to tie it up.  St. Mary's outshot the Wildcats 12-9 in the period.  

Jenna Marshall was superb in the Westman net stopping 39 of 41 shots.


Bell Named to U18 Women's Tournament Allstar Team

The Westman Wildcats would like to congratulate Ashton Bell on being selected to the U18 Women's World Championship Tournament Allstar Team. Bell, a native of Deloraine, is in her 3rd year with the Wildcats. In 5 games at the World Championship, Bell had 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points and a plus/minus of 6, helping to lead Canada to a Silver Medal. Great job, Ashton.


Robinson Commits to University of British Columbia

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Kenzie Robinson, a 3rd year Wildcat who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in the fall of 2016. She plans to pursue a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree.

So far this season Kenzie has 11 goals and 17 assists in 23 league games. Overall this season she has 22 goals and 20 assists in 41 games. Kenzie is known for her incredibly competitive instincts. She is a great skater with very good puck skills and a model of character and work ethic for her teammates.

The University of British Columbia is a member of the Canada West Conference of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport). The University of British Columbia is a global centre for research and teaching, consistently ranked among the 40 best universities in the world. Wildcats vs Peace Country

The Wildcats defeated Peace Country Storm 4-2 this morning in their first game at the Shaftesbury tournament in Winnipeg.  Kenzie Robinson scored a hat trick for the Wildcats. Katie Slator picked up the win in net.

The Westman Wildcats and the Prince Albert A&W Bears tied 2-2 on Wednesday night in Deloraine. Jenna Marshall was in net for the Wildcats

Wildcats vs Yellowhead

The Wildcats were defeated 2-1 by Yellowhead in a shootout last night in Shoal Lake. Courtney Ganske got Westman on the board at the 16:51 mark of the 1st period off a nice feed from Kenzie Robinson.  Tori Williams picked up the other assist.  Yellowhead tied the game with 2:42 remaining in the 2nd period while shorthanded - but with their net empty due to the delayed penalty call to Westman - with a nice shot off the rush from Paddock.  The game remained tied through overtime.  Kaitie Slator suffered the loss in net.

The Wildcats were defeated 2-1 this afternoon in Hartney in a hard fought, tight checking battle.  Jenna Marshall suffered the loss in net.

Wildcats vs Central Plains

Andrea Sanderson scored a hat trick in the 3rd period, including an empty netter, to erase a 1-0 deficit and lead the Wildcats to a 4-1 victory over the Capitals tonight in Portage.  Mckenzie Meek scored the other marker for the Wildcats.  Kaitie Slator picked up the victory in net, stopping 20 of 21 shots.
