WILDCATS WIN MFMHL PLAYOFF GAME #2
Sunday, February 24th @ Notre Dame Arena, Winnipeg

Wildcats 5   Winnipeg Ice 1
Wildcats outshot the Winnipeg Ice 44-15. The Wildcat scoring coming from five different players. For sixty minutes the Wildcats moved the puck well as a team. They dominated the play for the last two periods. The Winnipeg Ice played hard and never gave up.
Period 1 Wildcats first goal came six minutes in and what a play it was. Defence Kaitlyn Whaley snuck in back door and buried the puck in the net, receiving a perfect pass from Ashleigh Brykaliuk. The last six minutes of the period....the Wildcats scored twice,  served 3 of 4 minor penalties and the Ice scored a powerplay goal.The Wildcats second goal came @ 2:24 playing five on five hockey when Karissa Kirkup put a rebound in the net from a scramble in front, Jessica Vallotton in on the action to get the assist. The Ice were handed a penalty at the 1:45 mark. The Cats handed one at @37.3 remaining. With the face off in the offensive zone, the Cats won the draw and Vallotton blasted a shot across the goal line with 2 seconds left in the period. Wildcats were up 3-1. Period 2 The Wildcats would add two more goals to the scoreboard. They had multi opportunites at the Ice net. When the Wildcats were shorthanded, Kristen Campbell with a couple of key saves. Karissa Haney picked up the Wildcats fourth goal, redirecting a shot from Defence Gina Williams. With 3:23 remaining, Amanda Coey in front of the net redirected the puck to score after receiving a passing play from Kirkup. It was 5-1 for the Wildcats. Kristen Campbell after two periods with 10 saves.  Period 3 The Wildcats continued to pressure in the offensive zone.  Amber Tilbury with 5 saves after twenty minutes. For the game the Wildcats served 7 of the 12 minor penalties.

WILDCATS BEGIN FIRST ROUND OF MFMHL PLAYOFFS

WILDCATS WIN GAME #1 
Saturday, February 23rd @ Hartney

Wildcats 6  Winnipeg Ice 0
The Wildcats outshot the Winnipeg Ice 35-17. The Wildcat scoring came from all three lines.
PERIOD 1 THE WILDCATS SCORED TWO GOALS. Opening faceoff the Ice showing they came to play. Both teams were skating hard. The beginning of the period, the Wildcats defended a five on three powerplay. Mid period saw Ashleigh Brykaliuk pass the puck over to Karissa Kirkup, who got the Wildcats 1st goal. Kirkup after cutting in from the sideboard fired a shot, the goalie only got a piece of before it went in the net. Before the period ended Amanda Coey added the Wildcats 2nd goal receiving a pass from Jessica Vallotton from the corner. Kristen Campbell with some key saves during the period to keep the Ice off the scoreboard. PERIOD 2  The Wildcats controlled the play. The Ice were blocking alot of shooting lanes. Mid period the Ice pressured for a couple of shifts. At the 3:03 mark, Jossa Danis with traffic in front of the net added the Wildcats 3rd goal, unassisted. PERIOD 3 THE WILDCATS TALLIED THREE MORE GOALS. The Cats on a powerplay, Gina williams fired a shot from the blue line and it was Samantha Dyck's perfect timing to tip the puck past the goalie. The Cats were continuing to show strong passing plays. Just over six minutes remaining Jaycee Magwood showed her skill to put goal #5 in the back of the net, with a pass from Ashleigh Brykaliuk and Melissa Hunt starting the play. Less than two minutes later, Jessica Vallotton's shot added goal #6. Total Penalties: Wildcats 7 Winnipeg Ice 8.
Kristen Campbell secured her 12th MFMHL shutout and 14th shutout for the season.

Westman Wildcats 2012-2013 MFMHL Update

The Westman Wildcats with a busy month behind them, recently hosting their Showcase Tournament and wrapping up MFMHL regular season schedule.

This is the Wildcats MFMHL regular season update:
-  Finished in 2nd place in the eight team MFMHL.
- Have secured home ice advantage throughout the playoffs until the final round.
- Record of 22 wins 5 losses 1 tie  (Wildcats and first place Pembina Valley Hawks both finish with 22 wins).
 
-Wildcats ended the season on a 10-game Win streak, for the best streak in the league.
-December 1st thru to February 6th the Wildcats played 17 regular season games for a record of 16 wins 1 loss.

Westman Wildcats Showcase Tournament
WILDCATS WIN TOURNAMENT
The Wildcats had a succesful weekend. They finished first in Pool A with three wins. Also of the eight teams at the tournament, the Wildcats were the only team to secure three wins.
Sunday's first place final game was at 3:45pm. The Wildcats played Central Plains Capitals who ended round robin play with two wins and one tie for first in Pool B. This game was a fast pace and physical one. Game Shots on Goal: Wildcats 23 Central 22. Period 1 it was end to end action. The crowd watching the teams battle for the puck. After twenty minutes the score 0-0. Period 2 when the puck dropped, the Wildcats with pressure ....Samantha Dyck's shot got the Wildcats on the scoreboard. The assists going to Jossa Danis and Jaycee Magwood. All the Cats forward lines pressing with opportunites at the Caps net. The period ended Cats 1-0. Period 3 saw the Wildcats handed six penalties, Central Plains two. The Wildcats with quick pressure added their second goal less than three minutes from the opening faceoff at 17:48. Ashleigh Brykaliuk put one in the back of the net with a quick feed from Jaycee Magwood, Karissa Kirkup in on the play. The intensity level in the game building between the two teams  for the remainder of the period. The Wildcats playing short handed. And a time when both teams had players in the penalty box. With less then five minutes remaining in the game, the Caps scored on a five on three powerplay @ 4:00 mark. The faceoff at centre ice and the Wildcats still shorthanded....@ 3:28 the third goal for the Wildcats went up on the scoreboard. Karrissa Kirkup showing speed and a quick play netted the shorthanded goal, unassisted. WILDCATS WON 3-1. Kristen Campbell made 21 saves.

Kristen Campbell leads MFMHL with 11 shutouts and 13 on the season

January - Kristen Campbell - Westman Wildcats

Kristen is  leading the league in MFMHL shutouts with 11.   The GDI Goalie of the Month is Kristen Campbell of the Westman Wildcats. Campbell a grade 10 student from Brandon earns the award back to back months after posting a record of 6 wins vs. 0 loss with an amazing 5 shutouts over the 6 game span where she did not allow a goal. Campbell a first year midget for the Wildcats but in her second year with the Wildcats finished the regular season with a 15-5 record and has an outstanding GAA of 0.62 and save % of .974 both good for first in MFMHL rankings.

WESTMAN WILDCATS MFMHL SECOND PLACE RECORD 22-5-1

The WestmanWildcats were at home on Saturday, February 9th to play thier last regular season MFMHL game. Game time was 8:00pm.
WILDCATS 5  WINNIPEG ICE 1
Game penalties handed out: Wildcats 13 Winnipeg Ice 6. PERIOD 1 The Wildcats were on the scoreboard before the three minute mark with a powerplay goal. It was Ashleigh Brykaliuk scoring after Jaycee Magwood fed her one with an assist also going to Melissa Hunt on the play. Less than three minutes later, the Cats got a second goal from Kjierstin Wallace, who was quick to get one in the back of the net and Jessica Vallotton got the assist. Mid period, the Wildcats were outshooting the Winnipeg Ice 9-1. PERIOD 2 The Wildcats got a third goal from Karissa Kirkup at 17:22, assisted by Ashleigh Brykaliuk and Megan Robertson. Five minutes later the Wildcats were shorthanded, the Wildcats controlling the play and it was Samantha Dyck's quick hands who got the Cats fourth goal of the game. Kirkup and Brykaliuk getting the assists. The Wildcat lines continued to add pressure at full strengh. Before the period ended the Cats got another on the score board. Jaycee Magwood took a shot inside the blue line and it was Kirkup who capitalized for her second goal of the game. After forty minutes the shots on goal were Wildcats 22 and Winnpeg Ice 10. PERIOD 3 This period saw the Wildcats handed twelve minutes of penalties with the Ice serving two minutes. The Ice got a powerplay goal mid period. Amber Tilbury made 16 saves and played strong between the pipes for the win. Game Shots on Goal: Wildcats 27 Winnipeg Ice 17.
