Wildcats vs Pembina Valley
Oct 4, 2014, 6:46 pm

The Westman Wildcats traveled to Morden to face the Pembina Valley Hawks.  This was the first league game of the 2014-15 season for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats got out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Jaycee Magwood, unassisted and Andrea Sanderson (Ashton Bell, Jaycee Magwood). Pembina Valley responded with their first of the game late in the period on a funny hop on the powerplay. Shots on goal in the period were 12-6 in favour of Westman.

There was no scoring in the 2nd period.  Shots on goal were 7-5 in favour of Westman.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 3-1 in the 3rd period when Jossa Danis buried a rebound (Ashton Bell).  Pembina Valley battled back to make it 3-2 as a shot from the point deflected off a Westman player into the corner of the net.  They tied it up on the powerplay with 12 seconds remaining on a goal off the rush.

In the 4 on 4 overtime, the Wildcats had to kill off a powerplay and Jaedon Cooke, coming off the bench to replace the player from the penalty box, picked up a pass from Kenzie Robinson in the neutral zone, beat the PV defenseman to the middle of the ice and fired a wrist shot through the legs of the PV goaltender to secure the victory.

Final shots on net were 33 to 16 in favour of the Wildcats.

Jenna Marshall picked up the victory in net.
