Westman Wildcat Tournament
Oct 26, 2007, 9:08 am

The Westman Wildcat Tournament begins today and sees all 6 teams taking the ice at the Hartney arena.

The first match of the day will see the Host Westman Wildcats playing their northern counterparts from Yellowhead at 3:30pm.

Veterans Sherri Bowles, Kaleigh Scott and Robyn Garbutt will lead Yellowhead with youngsters Sam Weirer and Kelsie Scott giving Yellowhead a healthy shot of speed and offence.

Westman will rely on a balanced approach with a veteran defense core of three seniors anchoring the point. The Wildcats will roll three lines and try to use a fast aggressive approach, which should lend itself to a good opening game for the tournament.

The second game of the day will see the always tough Parkland Panthers led by Team Manitoba goalie Tara Lacquette, battle the Regina Rebels of the Saskatchewan AAA league. Regina has a young hard working team led by veteran Chelsea Bender.

The 8:15 match will round out the day with the Eastman Selects of the Winnipeg AA league playing Balmoral Hall of Winnipeg.

Snipers Darion Bruyere and Rachele Bosc will lead Eastman while veteran defenseman Nicole Gregoire anchors the backend.

Two members of Canada's U18 National Team, Breann Frykas and Bailey Bram lead Balmoral while two Westman products playing for Balmoral get a chance to show their talents at home, Nellie Minchull of Peirson and KL Pollock of Virden.

Saturdays games begin at 9:00am and go all day with all finals slated for Sunday.
