Westman Wildcat 2010 Prospect Camp

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the Westman Wildcat Prospect Camp for the 2010 -2011 season.  This camp is open to all 1993 – 1997 born players. 

 

The Westman Wildcat Female Midget Hockey Program offers elite level players in the Westman region the opportunity to compete against and with the highest level female midget  players in North America.

Wildcats to Hold Prospects Camp in April

The Westman Wildcats will be holding a prospects camp April 12,13 and 14th at the Hartney Arena.

This camp is open to 2nd year Pee Wees, Bantam and Midget aged players.

More information will be coming both on this website and e-mails.

Wildcats to Play in Warner Showcase

 

The Westman Wildcats female midget hockey team is travelling to Warner, Alberta to play in a four team Showcase March 19-21st.

The highlight of this showcase will be playing Team Australia, the Australian National Women’s team.

The other teams involved in this showcase are a prep team from Calgary, The Calgary Edge and the host Warner Warriors. Both the Edge and Warriors play in the Junior Women’s Hockey League, the Warner squad are this season JWHL champions.

Westman Wildcats Sheryl Kaskiw Commits to the University of Wisconsin Superior

 

The Westman Wildcats are proud to announce that Sheryl Kaskiw has committed to the NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin Superior Yellowjackets.

Kaskiw, a senior at Souris High School, plays defence for the Wildcats and will be suiting up for the Yellowjackets this fall.

Kaskiw will be joining fellow “Cat” Teal Crosson and former Westman Wildcat Teagan Cassan from Medora on the Yellowjacket roster for the 2010-2011 season.

Kaskiw, a two year veteran of the Wildcats was a member of last season’s National Championship team and is the fifth Wildcat to commit this season, following Brandi Pollock to Robert Morris University, Kelsey Scott to the University of Minnesota Mankato, and Meagan Bailey to the University of Lethbridge along with Crosson to the Yellowjackets.

Wildcats Silver Medalist at Provincials

 

The Westman Wildcats came up a little short in their bid to repeat as Provincial Champions dropping a 4-1 game to the Pembina Valley Hawks in the Provincial finals in St Anne on Sunday.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead into the third period and made it 2-0 before the Cats Megan Bailey tightened the game to 2-1.

The Hawks responded to increase their lead to 2 and with the Cats pulling their goalie the Hawks added an empty netter to take the Gold Medal game 4-1.

The Wildcats got to the finals by winning their pool with a 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Rangers and a 1-1 tie with the Twins. The Cats than topped the Interlake Lightning 3-0 in the quarter finals and got to the Gold game with a 4-1 win over the host Eastman Selects.

The Wildcats are very proud of all the players for winning the Silver medal and continuing on the Wildcat success that the program has had.

The Wildcats have won gold and bronze twice and the silver once in the last 5 years which is a remarkable accomplishment for any program.

The Wildcats would like to congratulate the Pembina Valley Hawks in their Championship and wish them good luck in the Westerns on the road to the Esso Cup.

Wildcats Teal Crosson Commits to the NCAA University of Wisconsin Superior Yellowjackets

 

Teal Crosson of the Westman Wildcats regional female Midget hockey team has just committed to the NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin Superior Yellowjackets.

Crosson a senior from Alexander, MB attends the Crocus Plains High School in Brandon.

Crosson is a two year veteran with Westman squad and a member of last year’s National Championship squad.

Crosson will join former Wildcat Teagan Cassan from Medora next season on the Superior team.

The Yellowjackets play in the NCHA league of the NCAA Division III.

Crosson is the fourth Wildcat to commit this season following Brandi Pollock to Robert Morris University, Kelsie Scott to University of Minnesota Mankato and Megan Bailey to University of Lethbridge.

Westman Wildcats Megan Bailey Commits to the University of Lethbridge

 

The Westman Wildcats regional female midget team is proud to announce that Oak Lake product Megan Bailey has committed to the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.

Bailey, a Senior at Virden High School, is a forward with the Westman Wildcats and will be joining former Wildcats Amy VanBuskirk of Brandon and Jen Durnin of Wawanesa with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns in the CanWest division of the CIS for the 2010-2011 season.

Bailey is the third player this season on the Wildcats to commit for next fall following Brandi Pollock to  the NCAA Division I Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh and Kelsie Scott to the NCAA Division I University of Minnesota Mankato.

Wildcats go .500 Hosting Winter Classic

 

The Westman Wildcat regional female Midget Hockey team went .500 while hosting the Winter Classic on the weekend.

The Cats opened the weekend on Friday against the #1 ranked Ontario Midget team the Thunder Bay Queens and came up on the short end of a 5-3 score.

Saturday had the host Westman squad playing a pair of games. The first was a match up with the Melville Prairie Fire and the second was with the Minnesota Crunch from Grand Rapids Minnesota and both games ended in 1-1 ties.

The Wildcats finished off the Weekend in Wawanesa against the Assiniboine Park Rangers and ended on a winning note taking the game 4-3.
