Wildcats Defeat Yellowhead 3-0

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Yellowhead Chiefs 3-0 on Wednesday night in Hartney.  After a scoreless opening period the Wildcats got on the board early in the 2nd period on a powerplay goal from Jori Hansen-Young.  They would then have to kill off a full  two minute 5 on 3 powerplay midway through the period. The Wildcats would add to the lead late in the 2nd period off a finesse one-timer out of the air from Belle Hobbs.  They would seal the deal with their 2nd powerplay goal of the night 6 minutes into the 3rd period off a tip in from Charly Lindberg.  Natalie Williamson was brilliant in net stopping all 36 shots she faced.  The Wildcats head on the road to this Friday and Saturday to face Interlake and the Winnipeg Avros.  They will be home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM to host Interlake.

Wildcats Fall 5-2 to Winnipeg Ice

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 5-2 to the Winnipeg Ice on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  The Wildcats spotted the Ice a field goal, going down 3-0 before they were able to fight back to make it 3-1 before the end of the period.  The Wildcats fought hard to get back into the game at the start of the 2nd period but it was the Ice who pushed the lead to 4-1.  The Wildcats would make it 4-2 before the end of the period.  The Wildcats had numerous chances in the 3rd period to get back into the game but could not bulge the twine.  The Ice eventually scored an empty net goal to make it 5-2.  Jillian Szabo suffered the loss in net.  The Wildcats next action will be at home on Wednesday at 7:30 PM to host the Yellowhead Chiefs.

Wildcats vs Pembina Valley - League #3

The Wildcats finally got back to game action on Saturday night in Hartney after a long Christmas break, defeating the Pembina Valley Hawks 4-3 in overtime in a penalty filled affair.  The girls had not played since Dec. 22nd and it showed in the opening minutes of the game as they were hemmed in for quite some time.  The Wildcats did not get their first shot of 2020 on net until 8 minutes into the game, but they made what shots they did get count with 2 goal later in the opening period by Jori Hansen-Young.  Pembina Valley would work to tie it up with a goal late in the 1st period and and 2nd goal midway through the 2nd period.  Krissy Rink would score on a breakaway on the opening shift of the 3rd period but PV would tie it with 1 minute to play with their net empty.  Gilly Gervin scored on a 5 on 3 powerplay goal early into overtime to seal the victory.  Natalie Williamson picked up the win in net.  The Wildcats host the Winnipeg Ice at 2:00 PM on Sunday.

Wildcats Finish Off 2019 With Win Over Interlake

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Interlake Lightning 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in Warren.  The Wildcats got scoring from 3 different players and Jillian Szabo stopped all 14 shots she faced to pick up the shutout victory.

Wildcats vs Winnipeg Ice - League #3

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Winnipeg Ice 2-0 on Saturday night in Winnipeg. The Wildcats, short a couple of players for the game, played gutsy throughout and managed to kill off 5 power plays throughout the game. Natalie Williamson stopped 21 of 22 shots to pick up the win in net. The Wildcats face Interlake tomorrow at 3:00 PM in Warren.

Wildcats vs Pembina Valley - League #2

The Westman Wildcats fell 1-0 to the Pembina Valley Hawks on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  Jillian Szabo suffered the loss in net for the Wildcats, stopped 16 of the 17 shots she faced.  The Wildcats close out 2019 with two games this weekend, Saturday night vs the Ice in Winnipeg and Sunday afternoon vs Interlake in Warren.

The Westman Wildcats scored two powerplay goals on their first two opportunities of the game to get ahead 2-0 and then scored an insurance marker in the 3rd to go on to a 3-0 victory over the Winnipeg Ice in Hartney on Saturday night.  Natalie Williamson picked up the victory in net, stopping 25 shots she faced.

Wildcats Earn First Win of Tournament

The Westman Wildcats finally scored an "allowed" goal that was not on their own net and defeated the Vancouver Island Seals 7-1 on Saturday morning in Milestone.  Charly Lindberg led the way for the Wildcats, scoring 3 goals.  Shaylee Scraba, Krissy Rink, Brynn Tosh and Rylee Martin also scored for the Wildcats. Natalie Williamson picked up the win in net, stopping 19 of 20 shots.
