The Westman Wildcats defeated the Eastman Selects 3-1 in Ste. Anne on Saturday night in a penalty-filled affair. 

1st Period

2:42 - Wildcats goal - Clyne from Gervin and Wickham

Shots - 11-7 in favour of Eastman

Seekings Named MFMHL Player of the Week!

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Westman Wildcats defense Ashley Seekings has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week.
Seekings was instrumental in the Wildcats home victory in Hartney as she scored the Wildcats first goal of the game after she stole the puck in the neutral zone and rushed up the ice and buried her own rebound into the back of the net to tie the game at one.  Seekings would go on to score the game winner on the power play late in the 2nd period with a hard blast from the point. Seekings also played huge minutes throughout the game and was a force on the penalty kill. Seekings attends Vincent Massey Collegiate in Brandon  where the third year Wildcat is a Honour Student..

Wildcats Defeat Yellowhead 3-2

The Wildcats defeated the Yellowhead Chiefs 3-2 last night in Hartney on Alumni Night in front of a large crowd.  Ashley Seekings was the hero of the night, scoring the team's opening goal on a strong individual effort and then scoring the game winner off a shot from the point on the powerplay.

1st Period

16:41 - Yellowhead goal 

9:01 - Wildcats goal - Seekings, unassisted

Shots - 8 - 2 in favour of Yellowhead

2nd Period

18:42 - Wildcats goal - Scraba, unassisted

4:13 - Wildcats goal - Seekings from Hubbard and Williams on the powerplay

Hubbard Commits to University of Regina

     The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Paige Hubbard, a 3rd year Wildcat from Brandon, MB, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the University of Regina Cougars in the fall of 2019.  She plans to pursue an Education degree.

      In 28 league games last year she had 3 goals, 10 assists for 13 points. Overall, in 58 games last season, Paige scored 9 goals and added 18 assist for 27 points. So far this season, in 15 league games Paige has 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points. In 34 games overall this season she has recorded 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points.  Overall, during her Wildcats career, Paige has played in 130 games and recorded 25 goals and 38 assists for 63 points.

     From Coach Hodges of the Regina Cougars, “I’m really excited to have Paige as our first commitment for 2019.  I think she has the speed and intelligence to make an impact at the Canada West level.  She is a great fit with the group that we have and I look forward to watching her to continue to develop over the next year and a half.”

     The University of Regina is a member of the Canada West Conference of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport). The University of Regina is public research university located in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is composed of 10 faculties and  one school that offer a variety of programs at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate degree levels. More than 12,000 students are currently enrolled. 


 

 

 


Wildcats Fall to the Avros 3-2 in a Shootout

The Wildcats got out to a quick start, scoring 2 goals in the opening 5 minutes of the game but only managed 14 more shots the rest of the game as the Avros came back from a 2 goal deficit to tie it midway through the 3rd period and win in a shootout.

1st Period

19:41 - Wildcats goal - O'Hara from Seekings

15:54 - Wildcats goal - Hubbard from Thompson and Williams

9:10 - Avros goal on the powerplay

Shots - 14 - 7 in favour of the Avros

Jenna Marshall was solid in net, stopping 44 of 46 shots but suffered the loss.

 


BELL SELECTED TO 2018 NATIONS CUP ROSTER

Wildcats vs Balmoral Hall

The Wildcats defeated Balmoral Hall this morning 2-0, bring their record to 1-2-1 in tournament play this weekend.  The team will now face Northern Alberta Extreme at 6:00 PM in their final game of the tournament.

Wildcats vs St.Albert

The Wildcats bounced back from a miserable effort on Thursday night and battled  last years national champion St. Albert to a 1-1 tie.
